The island is also home for lizards, boas and other snakes, a wide variety
of insects, marine cockroaches and others. From May until September the
marine turtles are landing on the Holbox beaches to lay their eggs. The
life on Holbox follows the tides of the sea around the Island. Fishing
being the main income source, the fishermen leave the island every morning
and return in the late morning. They return to their homes, loaded with
incredibly good fish to have lunch. The dolphins swim in the waters around
the island, accompanying the boats, sharks, whale sharks… A wonderful
and fascinating underwater world. |
